Yay! Yipee! Wahoo! I just can't believe it's already August. This summer has truly been a whirlwind. I am beyond excited and blessed to be ending my summer with my toes in the sand (and you better believe, a drink in my hand). FINALLY! A vacation!
"But you just got back from Chicago... and you went to New York" you may say. Let me explain...
I had a great time attending NSS in New York earlier this summer and just a short week ago I was in Chicago for Stationery Academy. I totally enjoyed travelling, and had a BLAST while in NYC and Chicago...
BUT THOSE WERE NOT VACATIONS.
Those trips were not relaxing or rejuvinating. They were work. I was tired when I got home. But I had more work to do. I learned SO much from those trips. I got to meet new people, see old friends, grow my business and set some amazing goals for myself.
But I need a recharge. I need to park my pasty bum in a beach chair and watch the surf for a day or two. I need to not think about designs (consciously, at least). I don't want to look at project or to-do list. I don't want to pack and ship anything... for a solid 72 hours.
I want to read a book not related to design or stationery. I want to read my Garden & Gun and my Southern Living magazines. I want to get a tan and squirrel away some good vitamin D.
And then when I get home I want to hit the ground running. Summer will be over and my favorite time of year will be upon us. Football. Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Scarves and boots. Turkey and all the trimmings. You better believe when I get back in front of my computer it will be time to crank up the Christmas tunes and get my holiday designs in the bag.
But for now... just for a few days... I want to sit right here and relax.
