Cupcakes and Calligraphy: An Inkling Adventure March 12 2014

This past weekend I attended a fabulous workshop called Cupcakes & Calligraphy. It was hosted by the eversolovely Margaret of Proper Prints. She is the amazing Clark Kent of Calligraphy. She serves the world as an attorney by day, and spends her evenings and weekends making it ever so much prettier with her beautiful talents!

I had been eyeing her classes, Cocktails & Calligraphy, which she frequently hosts at the Keeping Room in Baton Rouge. I had all but convinced myself that I would make the trip across the bayou to take one of her classes when, DING! I saw that she would be hosting a class just a short mile and a half from my house in Lafayette! I registered right away, without a second thought!

Michelle, of M Design Photography was there to document the event!

Not a detail missed! Place setting with all you need for the class!

One on one help from the Calligraphy master herself!

Now this is a class picture I'm not embarrassed about!
I really enjoyed spending the morning with a few friends, including Sassy Cassie of Southern Fete, picture here in the snappy pink blazer, Kim of Kimbrali Photography, in the black and orange and Casey of The Soiree Co (if you venture to her site you'll see her logo, designed by yours truly) she's in the white, on the end.

Thank goodness the class was only two hours. By the end I practically vibrated out of Indulge due to a delicious cupcake induced sugar high and way too much caffeine. But mostly I was excited about practicing my hand!

So there you have it, I have the calligraphy bug again! I'm so excited to incorporate some original hand lettered elements into my designs! And hopefully I'll be signing up for another round, Margaret offers an advanced class that I plan to attend in the near future!
